Hanes [apology] accepted?

Now isn’t this interesting.

Hanes issued a formal apology for those controversial ads released last week. Queerty commented, as did a few of its readers (see “Jabba’s” comment). Apparently, we’re not yet in consensus as to whether or not the ads are inappropriate. Are we being a bit too “PC”? Or should we watch our mouths when it comes to influencing ad campaigns? Who knows.

An entity claiming to be Philippe Krakowsky, Divisional Executive VP at Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc., left a comment at my April 14 post, directing readers here. Weird. But I suppose if there is someone else out there using Krakowsky’s identity they’ll be getting a phone call soon.

I think the real point is that we as consumers have far more power than we know. Put a few (hundred) blog posts up (some in protest, some not), fueled by countless comments and voila! Instant recognition. That’s like, easier than growing sea monkeys!

So now we should put our heads together and figure out how to make those himbos on Capitol Hill issue an official apology for Iraq, “assuring that such an event never occurs again.” Towleroad also posted a number of interesting comments.
