director Benson Lee [set] for UM
I’m very happy with the progress of my online art journal. If you haven’t checked out www.urbanmolecule.com yet, please do. The THINKTANK interview with Skyler Chen recently made WordPress.com’s featured blog for his reference to Henry Darger — an incredibly innovative artist whose life work was invisible until after his death.
I’m very lucky to have Josh Livingston and Perry Brass join as columnists. Both columns premiered last month. Also, I’ve been approached by author Toni Quest to do a guest interview on her show, Internet Voices Radio.
Perhaps most exciting for me: meeting director Benson Lee. I recently attended a special screening of Planet B-Boy, a new documentary by Lee that spotlights b-boying (what the media later coined “breakdancing”), and how this improv style of dance has spread all over the world since its inception over three decades ago. Truly fascinating documentary. I met Lee after the screening and he’s since agreed to get involved with Urban Molecule — quite an honor for me!
UM has more features slated for this month (including an interview with street artist Bobby Hill) and great talent is on the way for May, so definitely check it out when you have the chance. If you have already, thanks for reading!
Stay tuned…
